To add your own icons and or use Mapperidea Icons on Freeplane:
The menu Tools -> Open user directory takes you to the “freeplane_userdir”. Create the directory icons if necessary and copy your own icons to it.
Restart Freeplane if necessary, you can now use your own icons in your maps.
To add/change shortcut to a icon:
The menu Tools -> Preferences -> Keystrokes takes you to a window with all available icons. Look for the icons and place the desired shortcut.
To change a function hotkey/keystroke:
Tools > Assign Hot Key, do not close the box that will appear, select the menu item you desire to change the keystroke and input the new hotkey.
